12980 2001-05-21 07:55:00 Hi,
This PC has just returned from the repair point and when I log on to the internet the options for 'save password' and automatic' are greyed out. This obviously has something to do with the fact that the PC has not got a user name.On the start menu just above shutdown,it has only got 'Log Off'.If I do this then click on yes it changes to 'Log Off default' and the options are available.
As I am the only user what is the easiest fix for this,I am not on any other network except for my ISP
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Regards,
Maurice.

12981 2001-05-21 08:33:00 No I don't think it has anything to do with user(s). Try this, when dialing up go to settings and make sure of all details ie. password(save), or goto (my Computer)Dial-Up networking and add your ISP again.

My Opinion

12982 2001-05-21 10:43:00 Thanks for the reply, still no success though.
I can enter the password but it will not save it.If I log off then wait until Windows screen opens up again then everything is normal.I can then log off,do a reboot and they are greyed out

Maurice.

12983 2001-05-21 12:03:00 I have been having exactly the same problem since I reinstalled Windows 98 SE on Friday. It's infuriating! I'll let you know if I solve it. Guest (0)
12984 2001-05-22 04:01:00 Go to control panel-network. You need the following installed. Client for Microsoft Networks, Dial up adaptor and TCP/IP. Nothing else but you will need your original W95/98 CD's to install via normal add/remove.
Do a search in this F1 column and I'm sure you will find plenty of answers.

12988 2001-05-23 07:50:00 Hi Maurice,

Check out these two articles. Even tho they are about Internet Explorer 4, I'm pretty sure they also apply to later versions.
