If it had a better response time and did not give the impression that a message had not been posted (as it often does), then there would be a lot less duplicated postings. Sav mate, hope you find the answer to your issue, I certainly have had a lot of help from the contributors to this forum over the past 18 months. Up Yours, the response times here are governed by the readers and those who a) know the answer to the query asked and furthermore b) can be bothered sharing their knowledge. 12902	2001-05-21 02:51:00	nice to see some humor on this site :-) thankfully some kind person has deleted the ofending post. however instead of doing a 'microsoft bandaid' how about fixing the cause of the problem. a 'you post has been received. it will be posted in half an hour' page/popup of some sort would fix that wee prob. secondly if the top of screen dialoge (and adds) could be made to stay on screen instead reloading each time it could help with the obivous bandwith problem this site/server has. my ***** for the day ;-)	Guest (0)
12903	2001-05-22 05:17:00	Hi all, We're sorry about the speed issues and we're looking into the problem. A large part of the problem is being caused at present by rogue search engine spiders crawling the site and just hammering the server with requests. We're looking at ways we can stop them from doing this by a) preventing unwanted spiders (like the one from Taiwan - yup - that hits our site daily) and b) controlling the frequency of the other spiders and when they come and what they're allowed to index.
