13123 2001-05-24 10:11:00 I have just had an older computer donated to my Victim Support group. Whenever it is powered on it asks for a network password. If I click on cancel it continues to load OK.

Where do I go to stop it asking this quetion everytime. I do not have access to the original password and the network software has been deleted.

Presumably it is hiding somewhere in registry.

Thanks.

Go to Start >> Find Folders >>
type in pwl, after the pwl files are found, delete them then reboot your PC, Windows will now greet you with a blank password/logon box type a username but leave the password box blank, confirm when asked.
The next time you log on you will not be bugged with a password box.

13125 2001-05-24 14:22:00 The reply given above will only work if you are getting a Windows logon prompt. If it is a network prompt then you will get it each time the computer boots.
To disable it go: Start/Settings/Control Panel/Network, change the Primary network Logon to Windows Logon, then reboot the computer. When the logon prompt appears enter a different name and press enter for the password (this will create a new password file). The prompt should not appear next time the computer is started.
