13080 2001-05-23 02:27:00 I have a problem with the Microsoft office shortcut bar.

The first time all the icons had changed to the 'Word' icon, but would open the correct programme (i.e. excel, outlook etc) and when the cursor is held over the icon the correct name would appear on a box.

I ran Norton anti-virus with the latest update and it showed no virus.
Nothing else appears to be affected.

I manually changed the icons to the correct ones and all was OK for a couple of days.
Now it has done it again, but instead of the 'Word' icon they have all changed to a empty black icon.!!!

Again I ran Anti-virus, no problems, and no other effects.

I was told it could be an Excel or word macro-virus.

I am running windows 95 with Office 97 on a Pentium II 300.

HELP PLEASE.

13081 2001-05-23 17:14:00 It sounds like a virus to me. Check the Norton's setup and remove all options the exclusion list before running another scan. Also check Nortons is configured to check all files and sub folders.

There is an article at microsoft.com (knowledge base) regarding strange icon behaviour when there over a certain number on your computer (but I think it was more orientated towards desktop icons).
