| 13025 | 2001-05-21 23:26:00 | My computer is an IBM Aptiva model 2163-457, with a 433 celeron chip . Im looking to upgrade by adding a faster procesor and a 32 Meg graphics card . The m/board runs at 66 mhz but has a 100 mhz FSB and a maximum multiplier of 8x . Can I reconfigure this board to run a late model 800 Mhz Celeron ? Has anyone made this or a similar modification? |

Big oems want you to buy a new one, there,s no money in it for them if you are able to upgrade. I had a look at the specs for your machine,do you know it only has a 95w power supply, really, I did,nt think they made them that small and it has only one spare pci slot, unbelievable. You know what to do when you buy another computer, build it yourself and if you don,t know how, find someone who does, then you,ll know exactly how upgradeable and expandable it is ,even before you buy it and it might even be cheaper, certainly in the long run it will be! rgds Boris |
