| 13162 | 2001-05-25 23:45:00 | a. I have deleted Netscape Nav. so as to use IE5.5. In Registry Editor/HKEY CURRENT USER is a lot of Netscape files. b. I had to reload IE5.5 last week and now have sitting in my Temp Files folder a little file named df66b1. When I go to Delete it,it refuses;when I try to Open it it says that it wants Netscape exe. file to do this. Questions: a. Can I delete the Netscape files from Registry without crossing up any other part of my O/s? b. Will this then allow me to delete the thing in Temp. Folder? I use Windows 95. |

First back up the two registry files system.dat and user.dat located in the windows directory, if something goes wrong you can always restore them. There are also utilites available to remove invalid entries, Regclean by Microsoft, Norton Utilities includes a registry wizard. The file located in the temp directory is probably in use which is preventing it from being deleted. If you restart the computer at the DOS prompt you should be able to delete it by typing del c:\windows\temp\*.* |
