13373 2001-05-30 00:20:00 ON bootup I get the message 'unable to write to drive D'. Scandisk is started on this drive.Having run a Norton SystemWorks check on this drive I'm sure its ok so I exit scandisk and after several warning screens Windows boots up Ok.
This morning I accidently hit the key for Norton backup and got the message, 'unable to operate on drive D because it is in use by an unknown disk utility'. My machine has a 20Gb HD with 2 segments and all antivirus Def.& scan are up to date. The program Goback has not reported any problems and I belive it backs up to D drive. I haven't had trouble accessing any data on D drive. Any ideas?

13374 2001-05-30 03:49:00 Just an idea, why dont you revert your hardrive back to the last safe point before you had this problem & see if it still persists?.
you can always change it back if it doesnt help.

13375 2001-05-30 08:14:00 If the computer boots ok in safe mode then something which is loading at startup must be causing the problem. Try running msconfig.exe to isolate the problem. (To run msconfig go start/run, type msconfig and press enter.)

When fault finding, take note of which files were causing the error messages and try disabling those first. But be aware they may not be the cause, it may be another utility which has already loaded beforehand which is actually causing the problem.

Also try disabling any program you installed just prior to the problem starting.
