| 13378 | 2001-05-29 11:18:00 | Since doing a complete restore a couple of weeks ago the volume controls on my keyboard have stopped working. They used to work fine. I have a Compaq Presario 5WV430 Internet PC, with Windows ME preinstalled. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. PS. Another thing that has changed since the restore is that each time I do System Restore I lose the Easy Access Buttons out of Control Panel, I have to search for them and reload them each time. Help me please, this is getting rather frustrating. |

Your PC is still quite new - try Compaq internet support, it should be free, and they'll have a support forum for other users with the same PC. As far as your keyboard is concerned, you'll need to find the install file if the restore hasn't done it for you. It'll more than likely be sitting in a folder in the C drive called Compaq. Do a search for a file named 'keyboard' or similar. There should be a few program files in here. Install those that you think may be missing. Again, I would highly recommend contacting either Compaq or the retailer for support. Best of luck. Bill |

| 13380 | 2001-05-31 11:04:00 | First of all 99% of the restores I have done have been suggested by those wonderful people at Compaq. I have been in contact with them so much in the two months since buying the computer, I am considering asking them round for coffee. lol. The reason I have had to do so many restores is that Compaq and I don't know what else to do to fix the problems. They said it might be because of downloaded programs off the net, but I don't think so as the problems never start straight away after the downloads. I have no idea anymore. Sorry if I have rambled on, and thank you for your reply. I did contact Compaq last night and guess what...they told me to do another full restore after assuring me it would not harm the computer. Again, thanks Bill. Regards, Hilary. |
