13336 2001-05-29 02:11:00 When I attempt to use scanreg /fix I get this error message:-
'Windows found an error in your system files and was unable to fix the problem. Try deleting some files to free up disk space on your windows drive. If that doesn't work then you will need to install Windows to a new directory.'

Now, I have over 1 gig of spare space on my C: drive, and what is wrong with reinstalling Win98 to it's
original directory on C ?

My system is an AMD K6-2 450 meg. and Windows 98 (original version)
Thanks for any advice.

13337 2001-05-29 04:06:00 Installing Windows over the top of the existing version is ok but does not always fix/replace corrupted files. Reinstalling to an alternative directory will get round this problem, but will also involve reinstalling all your device drivers and programs again. A method of doing this so the original Windows set up can be recalled (if required) is listed in the Knowledge Base at microsoft.com/ (Q142096). Q149962 (Windows Protection Error Messages) and Q188867 (Win98 Startup Problems) might also be of some use. Guest (0)
