| 1274545 | 2012-05-10 21:54:00 | I felt I'd like to develop the server project, I completed last year, a step further (http://woodel.com/). So I built another computer with an i5 2500k processor, 8gb ram, 2 x 1tb drives (to hold virtual machines) and 1 x 2tb drive (for backups). I installed proxmox 2, which is based on debian. Then on the first drive I installed a virtual server, also based on debian as per the above guide. It was not easy, but I've been guided all the way by Kev, and I consider his e-mails to me to be a valuable reference for the future. Since then I mounted the second drive with LVM (the first drive already had it with the proxmox install and this enables snapshots - backups, to be made to the big drive). I have access to the big drive with samba, which is useful for backups etc. from my windows machine. For the next step? I would like to install a VM on the second drive. Windows would be nice, but I've gone on from XP and I don't have any spare win7 licences. Maybe try a preview version of win8? Some of the desktop linux's look compelling? |

I've just installed it. Quite nice. It would be really nice if I could get it to fit full size of screen. I'm a bit perplexed at the moment how to get it. Resolution I suppose. I'll keep looking? Proxmox is another learning curve:confused: Keeps me off the streets I 'spose:groan: |
