1273670 2012-05-05 03:35:00 Got an old Seagate 320GB HDD, connected to my working PC running XP, BIOS detected it correctly, but Windows couldn't detect it, and it takes a long, long time to start up Windows when the HDD is connected.

What's the story here? :badpc:

1273671 2012-05-05 03:40:00 Could be knackered, or not enough power, try a different power plug, or could be the cable / ribbon playing up.

Is it IDE or SATA

1273672 2012-05-05 04:27:00 It's a Seagate SATA 320GB.

Have tried different data cable and power cable without luck.

1273673 2012-05-05 06:02:00 BIOS finding it means it's controller works. Still can have a stuffed disk. Windows tries to read it as well, the BIOS doesn't. pctek (84)
