1273534 2012-05-04 08:26:00 Today I downloaded the Win8 ISO, created a DVD and loaded it into a spare partition . I do not have a touch screen so will need to rely on keyboard/mouse .

It's a bit of a pain that there is no longer a Start button nor the ability to get to all programs that way, you have to use the taskbar by the looks of it and use Windows Explorer .

So how does one shut the system down? I guess I will find it without having to use ALT/CTRL/DLT every time .

So far Win 8 looks good so I will have a lot of fun exploring it .

1273535 2012-05-04 08:39:00 Move mouse pointer to lower left corner for start then click on it. You will then see some of your programs, but if you want to see them all right click and a button will appear lower left which you then click on to see all your programs. Everything is there as in Windows 7 but done differantly. I am useing Windows 8 all the time, have been for a month.

1273536 2012-05-04 08:39:00 Shutting down can be done several ways -- move the pointer and "bump" the bottom right hand corner of the screen , the menu will fly out, click on power / Shutdown. Shown Here (news.cnet.com) - as well as another way thats quick, alt+F4

Another way Create a shortcut - Described here (www.techrepublic.com)

The way I have it setup, its simple -- go into the control Panel, make sure the power button (the one you press to turn on the computer) is set to shutdown when pressed. I simply give the power button a quick tap with my finger and it goes through the shut down procedure.

1273538 2012-05-04 11:13:00 Thanks WT. I never knew about the Power button. Works as you say and also for Win7 too. Bryan (147)

Hmmm Not a bad idea, looking at my KB I would have to change the sleep button to shutdown, but thats easy. Great suggestion.

I can see its gonna be "fun" Here when W8 goes RTM and people start asking " how do you <insert task>
