1251901 2012-01-05 22:00:00 His slow stuff sounds like Tindersticks. Check em out...www.youtube.com Will do. Baxter's voice is a dead ringer for his Dad, although the musical style is different I'd say. Baxter is the six year old kid (he is now around 40) on the cover of New Boots and Panties by the way - still a favourite album of mine to this day. Twelvevolts (5457)
1251902 2012-01-05 23:44:00 Add Seasick Steve - Walkin Man - to the Best Music DVD's list (also you get the best of CD with it). Worth a look for the hub cap guitar and the Mississippi Drum Machine alone!! Twelvevolts (5457)
1251903 2012-01-07 00:55:00 Metal is dead.

No new talent of any worth as emerged in over a decade, If there are any interesting bands out there then they aren't rising to the top, when the big bands that are still churning out new material finally die off then it will all be over.

The crap being produced now by the record industry (metalcore) is a disgrace to what has gone before and is weakening the genre not adding to it.

1251905 2012-01-07 12:55:00 That just means you're getting old :P, I rememer my parents saying much the same thing to me about rock music when I was a teenager.

What you mean is no new bands that you personally consider good or talented. You're entitled to your opinion but so are fans of the new metal bands out there, which I don't like much either actually.
Whatever any of us think of music, if someone gets enjoyment from it then it has worth. I can appreciate the talent and skill it takes to play a lot of stuff I personally hate.

1251907 2012-01-07 23:15:00 Sounds like 'old man' metal to me :)
Rehashed Helloween or Queenryche with some Slayer riffs chucked in for some attempt at cred.

Just filtered my library by genre & year and the metal basically stops about the turn of the century.
That might say more about me than the music though ...
