1251843 2012-01-03 11:54:00 Yeah changing laws tends to punish the law abiding citzens for the actions of the criminals who will pay no attention to whatever changes you make anyway. Dog control has the same problem.
I'm a bit anti-gun myself honestly, I don't mind hunters having them (well most hunters) and farmers have a fairly legitimate need but no one else really needs a gun. Anyone with a criminal record should not be allowed to buy one either.

Of course it's too late to do much about it, the criminals have guns, the police have guns, people feel the need now just to protect themselves. I just don't think it should ever have got to this stage but here we are.
It would be interesting to see how many accidental shootings there are compared to the deliberate ones, does it save lives or cost them overall letting people have guns at home?

Anyway drifted off topic a bit, I just think it's way too easy to get guns when people like this, whatever his reasons, can get automatic weapons.

Case of reaping what you sow.

Your 'The Yanks' generalization misses the point though.

With the economy in the dropper, there aren't many places for three hots and a cot. Some people are self-subscribed to the idea that the only 'work' out there is the military. Sadly, this brings a lot of pre-psycho elements into the mix.

Not that I believe that the military ever answers any problems, they just cause more of them really. But there are people who enter for very noble reasons, and even though I see a potential for a travesty both mentally and morally, they cannot come out of it without some baggage.

Ever meet a person who shot another person? It's a life changer, fer sure.
