1273929 2012-05-06 21:58:00 Are you wanting to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading, or are you having performance issues with something in particular? inphinity (7274)
1273930 2012-05-06 23:41:00 I reccomend more information and more complete specs.
Hard to imagine that actually needs upgrading though, if you want to go crazy chuck a 680 or two or a 690 in it.

Don't be silly, this is JJJJJ we are talking about here.

I recommend a new GPU, the latest Nvidia is out soon, why not dual of those?

1273933 2012-05-07 04:33:00 I'm just looking for more speed and more processing power. At present my cpu is often running at 100%. Loading times have increased to an unacceptable level.
People are telling me that Sandy Bridge is a better CPU, but I refuse to believe a cpu at under half the price I paid for the 980 can be better.
I'm getting two thirty inch monitors which wont help either.

1273934 2012-05-07 05:38:00 The size of the monitors doesn't matter, only the resolution. What are you doing that uses 100% CPU ? and I'm afraid sandy bridge is better no matter how much yours cost. It is after all 2 generations newer for a start.

You are not very forthcoming with information, which leaves us to guess what you need and why. If you want the best right now go for a 6 core sandybridge-e and be happy that it will cost enough to feel like an upgrade.
Are you sure your machine doesn't just need a clean-up and some SSD maintenance to make it feel faster again?

1273935 2012-05-07 06:09:00 My machine is used almost exclusively to run MS Flight Simulator. I have about 50 gigs of addons that take a lot of power and as their numbers increase the available power decreases JJJJJ (528)

1273937 2012-05-07 07:01:00 I know budget doesn't really worry you JJJJJ but one thing to keep in mind is replacing the CPU will mean a new motherboard and possibly cooling system as well. stormdragon (6013)
