1251477 2011-12-31 22:50:00 Handles have fallen off two from the old set so time to replace.

Looking for recommendations for good brands that'll last a good 20 years plus, cheers

1251478 2011-12-31 23:11:00 POLARIS, if you can still get them.

Ours have the handles at the replacement stage, but after 48 years !, (they were meant to last a lifetime).

They were a wedding gift from the wife's favourite Uncle.

Lurking.

1251479 2012-01-01 00:45:00 We've bought scanpan, not sure how long it will last, but it's all metal, and looks pretty sturdy.

You can get Mitre 10 and briscoes to play off each other (mitre 10 match briscoes 40% sale price etc).

1251482 2012-01-01 00:52:00 WMF :)

Yeah saw those but $3-400 a pot was a bit more than I was thinking

1251483 2012-01-01 00:54:00 Scanpan are probably the best in the world, but bloody expensive. They are made in Denmark, with expected Scandinavian quality. Hence the name Scanpan. Richard (739)

1251485 2012-01-01 01:06:00 Have Baccarat and Harrison & Lane for a few years. Sturdy and still good, but have replaced handle screws a few times due to rust. I recently balked at a single Jamie Oliver saucepan or frying pan for about $ 250 in a upmarket homeware store in Manukau Shopping Centre. They also had the pricey Cuisinart brand. kahawai chaser (3545)
1251486 2012-01-01 01:22:00 or Le Creuset - but again expensive.

It also depends on the type of cook top you have.

We went for an induction top - hence the WMF and Le Creuset cookware.

TradeMe is worth a look too :)
