13535 2001-06-03 02:07:00 I want to make a CD of my boyfriend playing on his turntables (he's a DJ). I've got a CD writer, Easy CD Creator 4 and a cord that goes from my computer to his amplifier. Now what? I know how to write music to a CD but I don't understand how I can save the music coming from the stereo to my hard drive. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!! I've got Windows Media Player and RealPlayer installed. Guest (0)

you will need to find a package that records WAV files. Once you have a wav file you can use easy cd to make an audio cd, and add the file as a track. The recording settings when making the WAV(s) will need to be 16bit, stereo, 44KHz samplerate to make the correct format for CD. If you want separate tracks you will either need to record each one as a separate WAV, or chop up the big one after recording. Your connector to the amp needs to be plugged into a line out socket on the amp, and the line-in socket on the sound card.
If you can find a good package for editing the file you will have access to more functions to master the WAV prior to burning.

13537 2001-06-08 00:38:00 This is an easy one.

First get hold of some software - you can do without, but it makes it so much easier. My favourite is dbPoweramp (freeware) which I will talk about later. If you don't like this find something under the audio section of www.yippee.net - this is where you go when you click on the downloads link at the PCWorld website.

OK for dbPoweramp, go to http://admin.dbpoweramp.com then go to downloads, and then auxilary input. Once it is downloaded and unzipped the file, it comes with step by step instructions on how to do what you want. It uses the example of an LP player, but a cord from DJ equipment will do the same. I am not sure which format it records to (as I have downloaded codecs so it supports all formats), but if it is not WAV then you can get codecs and even a file converter from the same website all for free. The help sections on the website are very well detailed, so if you cannot understand a word I am saying go and have a look around. I uarantee you will find what you are looking for. Once you have the file in wave format, it is an easy step to click 'create audio cd' in adaptec easy cd creator and then select the files you have recoded.

If you want any more help with creating musc, it is my speciality and you can email me direct on gwpetrie@actrix.co.nz
