13453 2001-05-31 23:34:00 Have jsut upgraded memory and now have 128MB of 133 MHZ plus 64MB and 32MB of lower speed - possibly 66??

As I understand it the WHOLE ram will default to the lower speed - correct?

Am i better off to run 128 at 133 or 224 at 66?

Also should the SDram setting in bios be - I have the option of 133 or 100

TIA

13454 2001-06-01 03:57:00 Hi Ron,

find out the front side bus speed of your CPU. If the 66Mhz DIMMs run fine at the moment then it's probable that your FSB is 66Mhz. You will not see much if any improvement by running your ram faster than this. Therefore keep all your memory in the machine.

13455 2001-06-01 04:48:00 Thanks for that

Its a 100 FSB on a VIA KT-133 so probably I have 100 MHz memory?

The other questions still remain?

Also - Do I have to make any changes to the Dip switch settings or does the change to 133 in the BIOS setting suffice??

TIA all

13456 2001-06-01 13:14:00 The BIOS setting is all that's needed to make it run at 133. I suggest you continue running your PC100 memory with the new memory, and keep it at 100Mhz. Guest (0)
