| 13442 | 2001-05-31 22:53:00 | I am helping a friend sort out her PC, and I am having a few problems. Her PC is and HP PC, running Win95. When the PC loads windows 95, the PC's hard drive seems to 'click' rapidly, like it is having trouble accessing the hard drive. Everything loads ok, but the clicking sound continues. I have defraged and scanned the hard drive to no effect. I am not keen on reinstalling the OS, due to all the other programs installed on her PC. Is the hard drive stuffed, or is there an easy fix. Regards, Trent |

Many drives recallibrate as the temperature changes, though this should stop after a few minutes. The symptoms sound like a faulty disk may be the problem however, so she should back up her data while it's still going. |
