13616	2001-06-04 10:21:00	my mom was using the computer then suddenly the screen went blank i restarted the computer and i can't log in to windows anymore!!! i tried step by step configuration but keep on telling me about the himem.sys file is corrupted os something please help me i'll keep you posted or something	Guest (0)
13617	2001-06-05 06:59:00	Earl, Himem.sys is a relic from the days of MS-DOS, it was used to manage programs in upper memory. Now-days Windows manages this for us. Removing the reference to this file in config.sys should resolve you problem. Restart your computer and when the message appears 'Starting Windows 95...' appears press F5 to bypass autoexec.bat and config.sys. At the command prompt type EDIT CONFIG.SYS, find the line with himem.sys in it and type REM at the beginning. Save and exit. This will prevent it from being loaded at start up. If you have an old DOS program that still needs this file you can restore it from you installation disks.	Guest (0)
