13814 2001-06-08 01:26:00 Anyone know how to do this?

I have trawled through the registry a bit myself, but I really don't know where the setting is to turn off displaying the Win98 bitmap on bootup.

I have used progs like Winboost etc in the past, but the only things I use them for is turning off Microsoft splashscreens etc, and I have found the settings for them in the registry, so would like to do away with any 'tweakers'.

Any help appreciated.

13815 2001-06-08 01:45:00 Probably the easiest option (& safest) is to let Tweakui do this for you - under the 'boot' section uncheck the 'Display spash screen while booting'.

The manual option is to change the attributes for MSDOS.SYS so it is not 'Read Only', MSDOS.SYS is found in the root directory of your C:\ drive. Open the file using Notepad or another text editor (not Microsoft Word or any word processor). Change the value of 'Logo=' to 'Logo=1' for splash screen enabled or 'Logo=0' for disabled. Changes will take place on the next reboot.

I knew I'd seen the setting somewhere - I'll give that a shot.
