| 13950 | 2001-06-10 22:25:00 | I am running WIndows 2000 with a 900Mhz Duron, 256MB Ram, a Soltek motherboard, an AGP 32MB Creative DDRam video card with a secondary PCI Creative TNT 16MB Card. Both these cards are automatically assigned to IRQ 11. When I checked for conflicts none came up. My problem is that both cards use the same driver even though I installed the latest separate DDR & TNT drivers. When I drag anything onto the secondary screen the system freezes. I tried to change the IRQ settings in the BIOS setup but nothing really happened.I then tried the resources tab of the device manager but the 'use automatic settings' box was ticked & greyed out. How can I get around this problem...Is it the IRQ settings or is there something else that I have missed? I am hesitant to change IRQ settings manually...help! |

Let windows install both cards using the built in drivers. (I believe the TNT is supported, the other may end up Standard VGA) Then use the Upgrade driver option in device manager to upgrade both with the same Detonator drivers (I suggest 6.5 at first), not restarting until both have been updated. I wouldn't bother moving any IRQs but you can assign a manual IRQ to a PCI slot in the BIOS, you could do this for the tnt card if you really want. Good luck, you might end up having to run vanilla windows signed drivers on the tnt, as I think your crashes are caused by the drivers, not the IRQ.... |
