| 13881 | 2001-06-09 21:50:00 | I would just like to know if anybody out there knows how to prevent WMP7 making itself the default audio CD player? The sound that creative playcentre gives is much better, and WMP7 seems to stutter a bit during playback. My disc detector has creative playcentre as the default player but WMP7 seems to have taken precedence over this. If there is no way of stopping WMP7's domination, if I remove it using add remove hardware, will it just remove this version leaving me with the older version or will it remove windows media all together? |

(This wont work just on its own) Turn off CD auto start, you can do this in Tweak UI in the Paranoia tab. Insert a CD, highlight a track, and right click it with the shift key pressed.Scroll down and select your Creative Play Centre, and check the box Always use this program... There may be also an option in the Playcentre to select audio format files like .cda. If there is make sure this is also checked. If WMP still tries to take over repeat these steps in another order until it gets the message that you dont want it. There shouldnt be any need to uninstal WMP, you may want to use it for other applications. Best of luck. |
