13885 2001-06-09 09:23:00 Hi guys. I've just got myself new everything (yippee!) but for some unknown reason my computer cannot 'find' my scanner. Now I know this could be something really simple such as the power adaptor or USB plugs not being connected but I assure you this is NOT the case!
The computer where I purchased my computer were kind enough to preinstall all software etc, & therefore when I set everything up at home I just needed to plug it in and go. Seemed easy enough but when I plugged the power cord in, the scanner sprung into action regardless of me turning on the on/off switch and immediately started making *hideous* noises. I quickly scrambled around trying to find the on/off switch and suddenly thought that the system hadn't been unlocked. With no luck on finding the on/off switch I quickly disconnected the power adaptor plug and then proceeded to unlock it. When installing the software, the computer company had obviously removed the warning labels reminding the user to unlock it before use.

Sorry for the *very* long story! Just thought it might help with an answer to share these details. I contacted the store where I purchased it from and they are yet to get back to me. (very quick pre-sale, not so quick post-sale, funny that).
Does anyone know if plugging the scanner in while it was still locked would create such a problem that now stops it from working??
Thanks
