14226 2001-06-16 09:59:00 Hi I have a Pentium 75Mhz computer with 8Mb ram and 800MB hard disk however, when I turn the computer on it comes up with the following message:

Hard disk(s) fail (80)

What is that and how do I fix it, because the computer cannot detect the hard drive, but worst of all I have forgotten my password into SETUP so is there a possible solution? All help is appreiceated.

Thanks

14227 2001-06-16 10:45:00 I'm afraid your hard drive is probably history. But you could check the connections inside the computer case. Just make sure they are all plugged in firmly. As for the BIOS setup problem, first make a note of some of the settings (hard disk type, etc) then try removing the CMOS battery momentarily. That will reset everything in the CMOS memory including any password protection. Guest (0)
14228 2001-06-16 15:35:00 you may have to leave the battery out for upto 45 mins, sometimes it takes a while for the power to drain out of the chips Guest (0)
