2001-06-13 22:49:00 | Can someone please help me to re-capture an edited movie back to my Sony Digital Video camera please? I am using the Studio DV software, PAL version. I can achieve all functions EXCEPT re-capture. I am using a Firewire card to capture the movie and attempting to re-capture it back to the camera. My system is a Pentium 111 733 with a dedicated 30GB hard drive for Studio DV and a 15Gb for the operating system. I have read all of the Bulletin Boards that Pinnacle provide to achieve results, and have not yet found the answer to my question. I have been trying for 12 months to complete the exercise, and getting to the stage where I am totally frustrated. Please help. | Guest (0) | |
2001-06-14 10:58:00 | There being no other replies.. I asked my son about this - as part of his Computer Graphics course he uses a Sony DV camera and downloads the footage to a PC via a Firewire interface. However he uses Adobe Premier for editing, which has an 'export to tape' option which allows backloading to the camera tape. He is not familiar with Pinnacle Studio - sorry.

2001-06-15 03:05:00 | I may be covering ground you have already been on here, so I apologise in advance. I am unfamiliar with dv editing but a couple of sites on the net that I found may help you. On the basis that your issue is not a software problem but simply how a recapture is performed, you might want to visit www4.tomshardware.com/video/01q1/010111 This is a review of StudioDV rather than tech advice, but it has some handy screenshots that might help. Better still Pinnacle's website has (admittedly buried) a couple of FAQs that might help. Go to www.pinnaclesys.com, click on Support at the bottom of the page, than select StudioDV from the product list on the left. Go to StudioDV FAQs, then to the subject *Make* There are a couple of FAQs on outputting to tape, including one that mentions a software update that might help you. Alternatively - if you did not get a manual with your software - you can download the manual in PDF format. (Chapter 11, page 123 talks about the Make function) To get the manual, from the StudioDV support page click *All Updates/Patches/Utilities* and look for *sdvmanual.pdf* Right click the link to save it to your hard drive (easier to read from there) I notice that the manual talks of a difference between the LE and the full version of StudioDV. Your outputting issues may lie there if you are running the LE version. Hope this helps.

2001-06-16 04:31:00 | Hi there. Silly question time... Does your Sony camera have DV In/Out? Many cameras sold in Europe are not DV-in enabled, (some tax scam I think?) so they need a widget. With Studio DV you select 'Make Movie' to send an Edited project back to a video camera to re-tape. Have you seen Mike Shaw's video tips on www.mikeshaw.co.uk/ Hope this is of some help. A year is a long time to be waiting. Best regards Peter E.

2001-06-16 22:42:00 | Thank you Russel for your trouble in responding to my inquiry. I am using a firewire card and still no joy as at today, in spite of helpful suggestions from other people. Les Sutton | Guest (0) | |
