| 14140 | 2001-06-14 10:26:00 | I have a lovely old 486 DX4-100 that until recently has had a very happy life running Windows 95, but all of a sudden it has decided to come up with a message reading 'Parity Error ???' 'System Halted' So i wrote to the BIOS maker and they said it was a RAM error...DUH! So I tryed all sorts of RAM, 4mb Parity, 1mb Parity, Different brands....all the different combinations of RAM i had, nothing works... Except one block of 1mb parity's...WOW! Can anyone tell me what could possibly be wrong?? |

Also be very careful not to damage ram by static discharge. Assuming you haven't done that the only other thing could be that your motherboard is faulty. Have you checked all the chips are correctly seated in their sockets? It's not unusual for chips to gradually work their way out of their sockets. Another thing might be the CMOS battery failing. Has the system date/time been accurate lately? Hope this helps. |
