| 14129 | 2001-06-14 00:15:00 | Twice now I have been charged for a call to Britain (Phone Number 44 700 5901016) on my Telecom Account. As I know I didn't make the call it must have been made through my computer via the internet. I use Zfree and don't download anything that requires payment. Has anybody else had a charge for the same number on their phone account? Is there anything you can do or any software which prevents your computer dialing an overseas number? Many thanks Johnny |

We think that the kids have been up to mischief & downloaded a small exe file from an adult site,& when they clicked on it,it has created a new dialup connection & dialed the uk.(the kids denied it) one way to stop it would be to get a toll bar on your phone.I think you can get a pin number so you can still make toll calls yourself. Have a look in dial-up networking & see if there is an unusual connection listed. regards Steve. |

In my dial-up connections list there was a strange connection (called 'Go In Direct') which I suspect has taken the liberty of dialing the UK of its own accord. Many thanks for the assistance - you've probably slashed my future phone bills in half! Johnny |
