| 14293 | 2001-06-18 05:28:00 | I am unable to play these games. I haven't played them for some months and when I went back to play them, I can't. The disks run and then seem to hang and I need to reboot. I have downloaded and installed the latest DirectX 8.0a. I have reinstalled AoE but still no luck. What can I try to fix the problem ? I was playingabout (opps !) and can no longer play mpeg, mpg etc files either (I set the default viewer to MS Media Player and that just hangs as well) Are the problems related ?? Any advice would be appreciated - any solution would even better ! Thanks Gary |

Tell us what make and model of videocard you have and I can point you at new drivers if you cannot find them yourself. If the vidcard is built into the motherboard then drivers should be available at the motherboasrd manufacturers website. If not then look on the vidcard manufacturers website and if you have no joy there check the videocard chipset manufacturers website for reference drivers for the chipset of the vidcard. | Guest (0) | ||

The dispaly adaptor (?) is a Rage Pro Turbo AGP 2X and the sound/video/game controller is a Yamaha OPL3-SAx Gameport and Yamaha OPL3-SAx SoundSystem. The computer is a PC Direct 690SE running Win98. Look forward to your reply. Qu: what have I done to get to this situation (so I won't do it again) or is it a case of fiddley fingers ? |
