14283 2001-06-17 21:23:00 I wish to do a fresh install of Win98-se. My laptop (Compaq Armada E500 PIII 450)came with 2 cds, one with the drivers & one with Win98-se software. My question is, if doing a fresh install of Windows do I also need to reinstall the drivers as well; and is a fresh install just a matter of rebooting with the Win98-se disk in the cd drive. Assuming drive is not partitioned, at dos prompt change to e drive then win98\setup and it should go. The CD ROM drive is always one below what it would be normally for the duration of set-up. For example. if your drive is partioned to C and D drive, CD rom will be on F! You more than likely will need the drivers CD to install/update once going! Guest (0)
