14455 2001-06-22 01:30:00 How do I use backup with floppy disks? When I try, I only get the option to back up to file. When I installed backup I was asked if I wanted to install a device using add new hardware...this got me nowhere. Guest (0)
14456 2001-06-23 07:37:00 Hi Kerrin, Backup is usually used to backup large amounts of system files or even complete hard disks containing as much as 850 Mbytes of data so, to answer your second question first, when you install Backup it checks your hardware configuration to see if you have a suitable backup device ie a magnetic tape unit or a zip drive or a cd writer and if it does not find any of these devices it gives you the oportunity to install one if you have one.If you have not just say no to the question. Imagine trying to backup 850Mbytes to floppy disk, even with the very best compression it would take 400 floppy disks and take forever. If you wish to backup small amounts of data to floppy disk just change the C: to A: in the dialogue box and leave the file name as it is or choose your own.
Hope this helps PC
