14416 2001-06-20 21:10:00 Can someone help me please with advice on how to delete the refrences in the Cookie Index Dat file. I remember something about it being done in DOS but have forgotten how to do this. I'm running Windows ME. Help would be greaty appreciated. Guest (0)
14417 2001-06-21 02:49:00 Index.dat can be deleted from the DOS prompt however in Win ME, the ability to restart you computer in DOS mode has been removed. Restart your computer using a windows boot disk, at the DOS prompt change to the temp directory by typing 'cd\windows\tempor~1', followed by 'del index.dat' (without the quotes). To delete everything in this folder type del *.*

You can also clear this folder by opening explorer, going to internet options under tools and clicking delete internet files button

14419 2001-06-22 05:13:00 I renamed the index.dat to index.txt
then deleted the index.txt
The system built a new index.dat file on reboot
