14425	2001-06-21 07:24:00	2 questions about replacing a 3.6volt lithium battery on computer. Are all 3.6 volt lithium batteries the same ? Who sells (in Christchurch) the above mentioned battery at good (cheap) prices ?	Guest (0)
14426	2001-06-22 00:23:00	theres a big range of sizes from basic aa to solder onto motherboard type. take the old one to a decent electronics shop and they should be able to get one for you. in case theres no life south of the bombays;-) you can order them from dicksmith or jarcar.	Guest (0)
14427	2001-06-22 09:45:00	Three types of batteries; 1. Soldered on to motherboard, there is not much you can do about this except solder another one in parallel. 2. Watch style batteries, these are reasonably cheap and can be purchased at most electronics stores. 3. 1 x 4cm (approx) enclosed battery with cable attachment to motherboard, these appear to be the most expensive but last for up to 6 years. Dick Smith sells them for $54 but I was able to pick up a second hand one for $20 from a computer store. 3.6v is standard voltage for CMOS batteries and should be safe to swap. I have heard it is also safe to use 4.2v batteries since the voltage is regulated on the motherboard.	Guest (0)

14429	2001-06-22 11:37:00	wtf?? 'solder another one in parallel'. if the battery has an internal short your new one is going to be stuffed very quickly . simply unsolder the old one and replace it.	Guest (0)
