14356 2001-06-20 05:19:00 Hi,I am trying to load IE 5.5 on to an old PC Direct 545(P120.16MB ram),but every time I try it locks up halfway through. It loads everything, but when it goes to set it up, it locks.I eventually uninstalled it.If I loaded an early version,say,IE3, would I then be able load 5.5 on top of it.I assime it may be because there is no version of IE on there at the moment.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

14357 2001-06-20 06:44:00 Yes, I would try install IE 3 then intstall the 5.5 upgade which is included on the pcworld cover cd, I had a version of win95 on a machine and it had either IE 3 or 4 and I was able to install 5.5 on top of that with no problems so give it a go. Guest (0)
14358 2001-06-26 03:35:00 I have tried, so far unsuccessfully, to load IE 5.5 from the PC World CD onto a machine running Win 95 release 2. The machine should be ok - 200Mhz and 64 mb ram.
I have used the Run' option to invoke the setup option - that starts the setup program - which after some while terminates with the message close all applications and start again!
there is nothing in the startup folder; Norton Virus check has been switched off. The CD was in the drive when the PC was started - so the PCWorld explore window is not started.... any ideas

TIA
