| 14583 | 2001-06-25 10:14:00 | I have a Compaq 5WV430 5000 series, a machine that is still currently being sold. The problem is that whenever the machine has to do a restart, ie after installing a program, it stalls with the blue error screen with the message 'Windows Error OE:016F:BFF7836A After this the machine has to be switched off, and then restarted. Can anybody help? but unfortunetly I do not have a great technical knowledge |

But heres 2 things you could try: 1- click start and then run. Then type msconfig and press enter (or click OK). In the screen that opens click the 'advanced' button. Then check the box that says something like: 'disable quick power down' or 'disable quick shut down'. Your system will take a little longer to shut down (or restart) but you will barely notice. However the probability of errors ocuuring during power down will be reduced. 2- Try to disable or enable plug and play in the bios. Goodluck. |
