| 14533 | 2001-06-24 05:55:00 | I am considering getting Jetstream Jetstart. But I am wondering about the equipment I would need to get so that i could connect 2 or more computers to the internet connection, at the moment I have 2 computers connected via a crossover cable and am now wondering if I have to get a network hub so that I can get these 2 computers running on the same internet connection. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks. :) |

Just purchase an adsl modem - I see they are selling for under $300 now - and install (either external or internal it doesnt matter). Then set up ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on this pc. ICS comes with a 'wizard' which makes it pretty straightforward & it even makes a floppy disk for you to setup the other pc to share the net connection on the networked pc. I had an ICS setup at my home with 2 networked pcs (using a crossover cable like you) for a while sharing a 56K modem & it worked fine. Give it a whirl! Andy |
