| 14747 | 2001-06-29 09:36:00 | Hi, I have read quite a few of similar questions but can't find the answer. I have two machines I want to network with a crossover cable. Machine 1 (zugzug) is WIN98SE and Machine 2 (Win-2000) is WIN2000 Professional. (Logged on as Administrator). I have TCP/IP with IP settings of 192.168.1.1 (win-2000) & 192.168.1.2 (zugzug) both have subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and they are both in the NETWORK Workgroup. I have print and folder sharing enabled and drive sharing on both machines. I have client for microsoft as login. In network neighbourhood I can see win-2000 (most of the time otherwise search computers) and can access it ie can copy/del etc. On win-2000 in computers near me or search will find zugzug, but cannot log onto zugzug from WIN-2000. The usual message is \\Zugzug is not accessible. The network path was not found. Both machines are both running before attempting to access the machines, and zugzug is a member of the user group on win-2000. I can ping from both machines. From win-2000 only once I created lmhosts file though. Any ideas why I can't access zugzug from WIN-2000? Thanks Steve |
