| 14737 | 2001-06-29 01:04:00 | I bought a PC recently and it came with a Dynalink int PCI modem. The proble is that the modem acts 'screwy' when I try to connect to the net. Sometimes it picks up the line then 'crackles' for a while until eventually dialing out. This 'crackling' sound sometimes continues while dailing and connecting Once it connects (doesn't always connect) it connects at different speeds at different times. Sometimes at 12k, 26k 48k 49.2k and then sometimes it just causes the computer to stall. Also it takes ages to disconnect, and once again sometimes causes the PC to stall. I know it not the phone line because I have had 3 other PC each with 3 different modems connect at a CONSISTANT 48k using both zFree and Ihug accounts. PLEASE HELP!!!! p.s. i'm starting to suspect the PCI slot now....I never had a chance to test the modem on another pci slot. p.p.s. A ext modem works fine. PC is a AMD 1.2GHz with ASUS A7M266 motherboard. |
