14729 2001-06-28 21:59:00 My Hp pavllion GDI resourses start off at around 83% when the pc is switched on and gradually drops until it gets to 60% and will no longer operate on the internet. This problem happened before and after much discussion with xtra and hp I had to reformat something I would rather avoid doing again. 14730 2001-06-29 00:18:00 GDI, Graphical Device Interface, very difficult to track down what eats up resources. I wouldnt have thought 60% would cause problems, usually not 'til you get down to less than 15%.

If you are running Excel then have a look at Q229670 at the MS Knowledge Base.

Other people have said try loading the latest Direct X.

Another way to find which program may not be releasing resources is to start with minimum programs running, run the Resource Meter and watch what happens as you then run each of your programs that would normaly be running.

Incidently the amount of ram you have has no connection with resources.

14731 2001-07-05 12:18:00 Starting with 83% is pretty low, you should expect > 95%. My guess is it is loading lots of programs at startup, eg realplay and other rubbish. Although there is a big in windows that causes windows to 'loose' alot of resources when lots of programs are started at once, eg startup. Guest (0)
