14657 2001-06-27 10:24:00 Hi all. I am looking for a working motherboard for my 8 yr old grand-daughters 486DX4-100 ...I have been told that we need to know the jumper settings or have a manual and maybe also a cpu...Can anyone help us please..we will also need a battery I think as a leaking battery is what beggared her other motherboard.Other than this we have thought about looking for a replacement mini tower as all the rest of her system is fine..but whatever way we go it has to be pretty cheap....thanks a lot. 14658 2001-06-27 11:12:00 if you need cpu as well get a p1 or better. i dont recommend 486's there to old and to slow.
have a hunt around flea market, second hand computer dealers etc. ask around every town has a computer guy with old spare parts lying around. other than that post what town/suburb your in and mayby a local will post back.
