1275687 2012-05-16 05:56:00 I read somewhere on the internet , dont know where , that the higher the screen resolution , the lower the peformance you will get from a web browser (any) . I dont know if this sounds weird , but thats what i thought to ask you people out there , who know more about PC. Nhashon (16466)
1275688 2012-05-16 05:59:00 I doubt it. the res here is 1920*1080. The browser isnt slow at all Speedy Gonzales (78)
1275689 2012-05-16 06:04:00 Maybe if the browser uses the GPU for hardware acceleration, but still sounds unlikely the slowdown would be noticeable... pcuser42 (130)
1275690 2012-05-16 06:19:00 You cant run at high res without a gpu so i dont think thats the case, because im pretty sure its your screen that renders to the gpu, so the web page will be the same res but with a sharper screen. Or is your cpu underpreforming? stratex5 (16685)
1275691 2012-05-16 06:34:00 Technically it's true. It requires more resources to render anything on your screen, regardless of what it is, and some browsers handle higher resolutions better than others. This is especially noticeable if you look at Cellphones.

On a PC though, even without a high-end GPU (Using crappy old onboard), you're still not likely to see major issues until you actually start scrolling. The initial displaying of everything on screen is usually not noticeable these days...

1275692 2012-05-16 07:07:00 I've used a Celeron, some cheap AMD graphics card, running 7 at 1920x1080 with no slow down at all. sahilcc7 (15483)

Well.......in theory. As in some hi-res nifty video clip perhaps. Rather unlikely.

You're more likely to have performance issues with a crap onboard GPU and your ultra snazzy animated screensaver. That I have seen.
