1275546 2012-05-15 13:34:00 Got new motherboard+cpu+ram, but now I can’t even install win7 :(
I’ve tried two PSU (420W and 650W) and both resulted in the same problem

My parts:
ASRock H61M-DGS (www.asrock.com) (Intel H61 LGA 1155)
Intel G530 (ark.intel.com(2M-Cache-2_40-GHz)) Celeron Processor (2.4GHz LGA1155)
Corsair 4GB Single Module 1333MHz DDR3 (CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 (www.corsair.com))

I can see RAM in bios fine, but because of the CPU the ram drops to 1066.

When starting win7 installation (off a usb flash drive), the starting windows screen loads then the computer freezes, and the display gets a bit funky (photo (imageshack.us)).
When running memtest86+ (V4.20), the test goes for 3-5sec, then the display also goes wrong and the computer freezes (photo1 (imageshack.us) and photo2 (imageshack.us)).

I’m not sure if it’s a ram problem when dropping down the speed, here’s what the bios shows when it drops the speed shown in this table (imageshack.us)

I’m not sure what’s wrong… anyone got any ideas?

1275547 2012-05-15 13:37:00 Bad drivers maybe? I dont really know as i am a bit of a windows noob. Slankydudl (16687)
1275548 2012-05-15 14:43:00 thanks, at first I thought that too, but then in memtest the same issue occurs so I'm wondering if it's something else. heni72847 (1166)
1275549 2012-05-15 19:59:00 I would be trying new Ram first. Tukapa (62)
1275550 2012-05-15 21:30:00 Have you got the win7 dvd?? Where did the flash drive install come from? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1275551 2012-05-15 21:40:00 I would be trying new Ram first.+ 1 and if that doesnt fix it, then I suspect a faulty motherboard. Iantech (16386)
1275552 2012-05-15 21:47:00 i assume its a legit copy of Windows7 ???????? GameJunkie (72)
1275553 2012-05-15 22:00:00 You did install the CPU properly, right? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1275554 2012-05-15 22:22:00 I'd say its more than likely a faulty board.

Reason: If the RAM was that bad, normally it would play up and not install at all. If you look at the first picture windows has actually installed. But I'd still change the RAM first just in case.

1275555 2012-05-15 22:52:00 The window 7 setup USB is made from the Win7 SP1 ISO image file from Microsoft, and put onto the flash drive by using "Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool."
I can type in my retail key during install, or leave it as trial, etc.
The computer does not have an optical drive so I wanted to install from USB.

I believe I have installed the CPU correctly, I can see it in BIOS, and read its temperature too. I hope that means the CPU is fine.

Just to clarify, the "starting windows" photo is not after setup has completed, it is crashes while booting into the setup environment. I can never reach the stage where the graphic interface appears, where you can you the mouse and begin installation.

Would using this RAM at a lower speed mess things up? I left the settings in BIOS to auto, but I don't know if the timing settings are actually correct... but I don't know enough about it to set them manually.
