| 1275057 | 2012-05-13 04:16:00 | It doesn't matter which browser I try using, Internet Explorer, Safari etc, it seems whenever I'm viewing lengthy Facebook pages or YouTube where you can keep scrolling down to view more content, the web browser application begins to take over the memory of my computer to the point where it approaches 800MB of usage and slows my system right down, granted, I only have 4GB of RAM, but nevertheless, it's only a problem when viewing these particular websites. Here's the log from HiJackThis: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4 Scan saved at 10:58:16 PM, on 5/12/12 Platform: Windows 7 SP1 (WinNT 6.00.3505) MSIE: Internet Explorer v9.00 (9.00.8112.16421) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloudServices.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\ubd.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\BookmarkDAV_client.exe C:\Users\Marco & Amanda\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox\bin\Dropbox.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\SABnzbd\SABnzbd.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Renesas Electronics\USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver\Application\nusb3mon.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\APSDaemon.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\DELL\Dell Laser MFP 1815\LocalSM\jbDetect.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\DELL\Dell Laser MFP 1815\PSU\Scan2Pc.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\distnoted.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\1Password\Agile1pAgent.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\acrotray.exe C:\Users\Marco & Amanda\AppData\Roaming\Juniper Networks\Setup Client\JuniperSetupClient.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\SyncServer.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Gmail Notifier\gnotify.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Safari\Safari.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Safari\Apple Application Support\WebKit2WebProcess.exe D:\Downloads\HijackThis.exe R1 - | 1275058 | 2012-05-13 05:40:00 | If you use a browser like Chrome and right-click next to a tab and choose Task Manager, it'll show you precisely which tabs are using how much RAM and how much CPU utilization. Same for the plugins such as Flash. You'll find Flash and Java are whores... | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 1275059 | 2012-05-13 06:50:00 | When you say Facebook videos, are they videos specifically hosted by FB or youtube vids embedded into FB, could be a problem with the youtube player specifically. What version of flash are you running? Try updating it. If the problem is hard to solve or a solution is elusive you could concider joining the HTML5 Trial (you can leave at any time) on youtube (www.youtube.com) Instead of using flash, it uses HTML5 to playback videos rather than flash. In fact, you could try that now to see what happens. |

| 1275063 | 2012-05-13 14:19:00 | I generally play all the video files right in YouTube, even for Facebook. For instance, if there's a video in Facebook I want to play, rather than play in in the embedded video I click on the link which takes me to the video in Youtube's website directly. I have the latest version of Flash installed. I will try what you mentioned in terms of using HTML5. Thanks When you say Facebook videos, are they videos specifically hosted by FB or youtube vids embedded into FB, could be a problem with the youtube player specifically.
