Makes me feel like crying. I paid $2500 for my 40" LCD Sony 4 years ago. Mind you the previous model to my Sony cost over $5000.
:(

1252611 2012-01-06 18:13:00 Appears to be similar to pc monitors. I remember I paid $350 for a 19" LCD monitor 3-4 years ago, now you can get a 24" LED monitor for less than $300. Netsukeninja (13296)
1252612 2012-01-06 18:26:00 Might make it hard to sell the new OLED sets, which are still going to be pricey.

Nice though for so many kiwis who are upgrading re the analogue switch-off. For once it's not a total rip off for a new model.

1252613 2012-01-06 18:38:00 It usually happens this way. If you are the first kid on the block to buy new technology you end up paying a higher price than the other kids on the block who waited for the price to come down. Bobh (5192)
1252614 2012-01-06 18:45:00 Yes I paid $2500 for my Panasonic NV 850 Hi Fi video recorder years ago.

1252615 2012-01-06 18:50:00 I paid $599 for my 32" Sony 2.5 years ago.
Seems reasonable. No intentions of changing it either because of these new things.

I'll change it when it's dead.

1252616 2012-01-07 02:23:00 That's why these days I very seldom purchase or upgrade.

We still have a CRT that we bought from 1999 I think. Paid $1,600 for a 24".

We bought a DVD player for $900 and the thing broke down after 8yrs, we seldom hire DVDs. We now still have not gotten a Blue Ray player.

I had my PC for 3yrs now, doing avg stuff and personal use Photoshop. Prob have it for another 2yrs at least. Just don't see the need for a Pad at all. To me it's just a toy. I don't do long travels, so on travels my Smartphone is fine with that. I tend to keep phone for a min of 3yr as well. After buying a $1,500 new 6mp dSLR, my other was a 5yr used one with 4MP but faster, was prob an impulse at like 10% of its orignal price  Everytime I want to get a full frame dSLR there are always reason I should not for what I do, FF doesn't need the benefits.

I spoke to a Noel Leeming person last year, he said that most customers look for a 32 or a 28" TV. Maybe also I assume they may not get the latest LED technology either.

1252618 2012-01-07 02:28:00 We bought a DVD player for $900 and the thing broke down after 8yrs,

I paid $800 for one, the very next day the price plummeted to $240 for the exact same model.

Then it died one week out of its warranty period, I did get a replacement supplied, still going strong, Gave it to my dear old mum.

1252619 2012-01-07 02:30:00 Our CRT died just before Christmas sister in law gave us an LCD that was just sitting in here garage unused, they brought it over from OZ it is unbranded and has a DVD player built into the side. It is full HD although the sound is crap so I plugged it into my amp and run it through my M75 speakers gary67 (56)
