Gotta admit I'm loving having a large data cap with Slingshot though, that runs at high-speed. It's brilliant and enables so much. Same for at work. I have all my music on Google Music now, no more taking up my own HDD space, now it's al online. When I'm on 3G I just enable it to play stuff its recently cached that I listened to while on Wifi.

What Metla speaks over is very very close to becoming a reality. Augmented reality I believe is the correct terminology to be precise ;)
You are quite right,Metlas reality is very close and as you say next year.

I didn't know Met was into science fiction, did you know?

I did?

If I had of said something like that I would have suggested "this year".

Yes but not now, it's called poetic license.

Its definitely in the now, Current tablets are being used as information, education, communication and media tools.

Schools are building wireless networks to cover their grounds, and streaming content is already available, and tablets are the perfect tools for this use.

1252494 2012-01-07 23:01:00 Also, ther'es not a *lot* of point in waiting for the Transformer Prime. It's like suggesting that somebody doesn't get a dual-core for their first PC and that they should get a quad-core. They're not likely to require it immediately and can always "trade-up" later if they truly find that it's not doing what they want, however remote that possibility is...

If the rumour mill is right and the iPad3 and Galaxy Tab 11.6 have a much higher resolution, the prime will drop in value fast.

We can all agree that the above mentioned is in the now, it's what you mentioned b4 the sci fi stuff that is in question.

A 6 year old goes up to plant, points his tablet at it and it proceeds to give him it's genetic background, I mean to say, we are not talking next week for that.

1252499 2012-01-08 01:04:00 A late reply to all of this - having got one for 'Himself' for Christmas - it's just great (especially for the computer illiterate amongst us!). You may remember me asking about the middle of last year about tablets - I dithered for ages but finally got him an iPad. He is able to watch his movies in bed and can see them (loss of vision in one eye). Previously he was trying to see them on his aging iPod (which is still useful for listening to music on). Facetime is easy to connect to family overseas and he even does a little gentle 'surfing'! :)

However - I'm still the 'go-to fix-it' person - and I don't know a lot about Apple stuff - so a learning curve for me too.... :)
