1252771 2012-01-07 17:39:00 A young man died yesterday when his souped-up car was completely crushed in a high-speed smash - allegedly T-boned by a boy racer aged just 15.

The reference to the 'souped up car' gives an initial wrong impression.

Why is it that the idiots seem to survive accidents that kill innocent people?

So many of them lately.

1252772 2012-01-07 19:30:00 Is this (www.nzherald.co.nz)what you are talking about.

Looks like a stolen car that run a red light was involved.

Yesterday police arrested a 15-year-old boy and charged him with dangerous driving causing death.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton said the boy's family members brought him to Auckland police station and turned him in.

The boy will appear in Auckland Youth Court next week.

Wonder what the Youth Court will do. Good on the family members for turning him in.

Great to see the family doing the right thing. It means that there is a chance that the idiot 15yr old will get sorted out, pay for the crime and go on to lead a useful life. Unfortunately nothing can reverse the fact that yet another innocent has been killed through no fault of his own.

1252775 2012-01-07 21:32:00 Fact is, young kids and fast cars will never be compatible. The morons never learn.

Just look at how many morons turn out to *honour* there killed mate only to be seen afterwards doing burn outs and donuts in *honour*.

Was in a fish n chip shop last year when some young moron kid, had only just picked up his L license, was boasting to his just as moron mates about his car parked outside that daddy had bought him, big bore exhaust, mags, lowered suspension and clearly illegal at that, boasting he had already had it up close to 200k and reckoned it could go faster.

Neice briefly worked with one of these morons who boasted after each weekend how many more tickets he had got with no intention of ever paying them. He came unstuck though later, he had skills and managed to get a job in Australia via one of the contracting companies, big money, new start to life and he got nabbed by Immigration, now, he is still here being a moron.

Aussie cops, because of there laws, are no where as flexible with morons as they are here in NZ.

1252777 2012-01-07 22:16:00 At least the family turned the boy in, in this case. Chilling_Silence (9)
1252778 2012-01-07 22:18:00 My point was that the survive the accident. It isnt fair. tut (12033)

Perhaps at sentencing... The fact that he turned himself in will work in his favour?

1252780 2012-01-08 08:00:00 Perhaps at sentencing... The fact that he turned himself in will work in his favour?I hope it doesnt work in his favour. He should lose his licence for 10 years and not be allowed to own a car for 15 years. He might be mature enough to have one by then. Thats on top of what he is already going to get. Sadly he will most likely only get a slap on the hand being a minor. Iantech (16386)
