| 14903 | 2001-07-03 07:09:00 | For months now, I have been having issues with accessing internet sites that I have subscribed to (that have secure passwords): eg. my online banking site. When opening up the page, I get a dialogue box stating 'this certificate is either not yet valid or expired.' When I check it's validation dates they fall within the specified timeframe. Often, the page will continue to either, keep defaulting to the login page (whereas I cannot access the site at all), or I can access the site, but only in parts; so pages (crucial ones) are not accessible. The various support lines have been futile. And in my frustration -to say the least- I even reformatted and reinstalled Win98SE; to no avail. Any ideas, anyone???? |

(iii) I presume your Browser has 128-bit encryption installed, a requirement for most secure sites. e_ |

| 14905 | 2001-07-03 21:09:00 | ...and, as an afterthought, this from the gnomies over at Lockergnome.com: 'Sometimes when you try to logon to a site, or even register using their neat little sign up form in order to obtain a user Id and password, things just don't go right. Your browser may hang, or you may receive cryptic errors back that don't really lead to a proper solution. 'This can often be caused by a difference in the HTTP protocol being used to communicate between your browser and the web server. Having a proxy server in the mix somewhere along the line spells trouble once in a while as well. 'Microsoft Internet Explorer permits you to define settings that affect how the browser uses the HTTP1.1 standard. Click Tools - Internet Options - Advanced tab and locate the HTTP 1.1 settings area. 'Altering how these are set can allow a problematic website to work properly. If you're running without a proxy server, then be sure that the 'Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections' is not checked for starters. Also try disabling HTTP 1.1 entirely by clearing the 'Use HTTP 1.1' checkbox. Conversely, if they are both disabled, try enabling one or the other to see if it has an affect on the issue. 'Confusing, to be sure, but there aren't any hard and fast rules about this one.' Good luck, e_ |

| 14906 | 2001-07-06 12:00:00 | Thanks for the response. I have tried all you suggested to no avail. Could there be some remote possiblity that it is a conflict with my external Dynalink v1456vqe modem? I have noticed on occasion it does hang -the TR light stays on, and I cannot access any pages and I am forced to reboot. I recently re-firmwared my modem back to 56kflex due to continual disconnections. The situation is still evident, though much improved. |
