14910 2001-07-03 00:36:00 OK this is a newbie question I know. I am looking to get a CD-RW and was wondering if it is possible to burn mp3's (or any other sound file for that matter) from my HD to CD and then play them on the stereo. If I can, does this require special software & should I expect it to come with the CD-RW. Also any recommendations for an 'External' CD-RW, they are SO expensive! Your help would be appreciated thanks. Guest (0)

www.nero.com You can download a trial version.

14912 2001-07-03 03:26:00 hi Andrew,
you will likely be able to do this for free with the software bundled with the writer. When creating a CD you will be prompted to make either a data or audio CD. You will need to have your MP3s decompressed into WAV files before you can use them on an audio CD. You CD writer may do this on the fly when making the CD. If it doesn't, Winamp will convert MP3s to wave files, just select the output device to be 'disk writer' You will not hear the mp3 play when winamp is set this way, but there will be a WAV file waiting for you after it completes.

14913 2001-07-03 06:20:00 Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Also if somone knows a good price for an 'external' CD-RW that would be great. DSE wants $700+ - over twice the price for an internal model! Guest (0)

14915 2001-07-03 21:37:00 Thanks very much for the response. I was not familiar with Ascent before now, but they seem pretty good overall. There prices are $43 cheaper than DSE for the same product, plus they offer 1.5% discount as well for Direct Credit, Eftpos, or cash. Excellent :-) Guest (0)
