| 14853 | 2001-07-02 09:08:00 | I have just recently experienced some really slow downloading speed from Xtra. My is now normally running a 37.77777777777kBs when I have a 56K modem. Is that speed normal or not. In terms of the 24.95 deals from different companies, which companies connect and processes at the fastest speed.If this problem is not normal, is there any solution to it? | Guest (0) | ||
| 14854 | 2001-07-02 10:50:00 | hmm i was running at about 33.6k with my 56k modem, rung telecom & they did a line test, found nothing, but they did send out a tech, he noted that something was funny (oh i have 6 jacks in the house) He replaced all the jacks & i now get 52000 all the time....maybe u have a crook jack in the house somewhere, it is free if there is a prob but will cost u if there is not. | Guest (0) | ||
| 14855 | 2001-07-02 11:08:00 | i use xtra and paradise, the download speeds are about the same. only diff is that xtra is unlimited and paradise is 250hours. what speed did you quote? theres a big diff between log on speed and actual download speed. if you are having probs post back. | Guest (0) | ||

It it possible for me to replace the jacks myself because what happens if the tech guy came and said there was no problem on purpse and so he/she would charge me few hundred dooars just for a visit... I don't think it is worth it. Can u tell me who u rany and got the tech guy from. |

| 14857 | 2001-07-02 14:54:00 | I had loads of probs staying connected using ihug. i had the plugs replaced in the house to no help, had new line put in to no help. after making alot of grrrrrr noises to telecom the checked the connections between home and exchangeand found a fault there so get them to do a good check out, its there lines after all. ps. it didn't change my speed but i can stay connected now. good luck |

I used to lose my connection every 10-12 mins.Systematically unplugging the phones found one phone that, when plugged in, dropped me off line, but when I unplugged it - viola! | Guest (0) | ||
