15041 2001-07-05 03:08:00 For some reason whenever I try to play in OpenGL mode, Half-Life crashes after 5 minutes and I have to reboot. (Half-Life isn't the only game that I'm getting problems with.) Direct3D works fine but I get 50 fps max as opposed to 50 fps minimum in OpenGL.

Specs:
AMD 1.2GHz T-Bird
128MB RAM
nVIDA 32MB Geforce2 MX/400
Latest Detonator Drivers
Win 98 SE

15042 2001-07-05 03:11:00 By the way, I am running games in the recommended OpenGL resolution of 640*480 Guest (0)
15043 2001-07-05 05:31:00 what deternator drivers are you using?? offical or unoffical(leaked) drivers?

you may want to try 'opengl setup'. its a small program which dcides what opengl drivers you need and downloads them, but be warned its not supported and can be a backward step.

as much as i love opengl i use direct3d for hl/cs due to opengl notliking being minimized and causing probs.

whats your timedemo in q3???

15044 2001-07-05 07:01:00 HI, are you using a VIA chipset? If so, try running your AGP at 2x. Guest (0)
15045 2001-07-05 07:06:00 Not sure if it's a VIA chipset. How do I find out? Please advise. Guest (0)
15046 2001-07-06 23:00:00 Do a FIND on your PC for OpenGL32.dll. If you find more than one delete all of them EXCEPT the one in the C:/Windows/System folder.

Reboot and check games.

15047 2001-07-11 11:00:00 What OS do you have? my friend had trouble with Windows ME because its version of DirectX 8 is incomplete, and slightly different, install the latest release of DirectX 8 if you have ME and see if that fixes things. Guest (0)
15048 2001-07-12 06:48:00 I'll have a look for those OpenGL32.dll 's when I get the comp back from the shop. It could have been a faulty motherboard problem, or I thought it could be because of a lack of cooling systems. Updates to follow. Guest (0)
